Jamie Day Fleck was born in Clearwater, Florida and moved to Toronto, Canada at an early age. She came from a very artistic family who both supported and participated in the arts. As a result of her family’s influence, Jamie’s creative ability was encouraged and developed early on. Her early photographic interests were fostered by her step-father who acted as her mentor.
She went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her thesis project consisted of a series of staged night portraits that focused on the beauty and isolation of urban existence, which has remained an ongoing project. This series was exhibited in solo and group shows in Toronto and New York. In New York she started her editorial career and interned with iconic fashion photographer, Steven Klein.
Portraiture was the basis for her photographic exploration as well as the subjects’ relationship to their environment. This has lead her into fashion, music and outdoor lifestyle photography. Jamie Day Fleck continues to push the envelope of versatility in her craft while cultivating her unique style and vision.
